Family: 4 Month Old Harlie Alexa

Harlie Alexa is 4 months old now… look how chunky she’s filling out. That smile is absolutely contagious, she looks like a little grandma in that tiny body. I’m such a lucky madrina. Here she is with her abuela, my mother, while she gets milk wasted in the center image.

Welcome to the World Harlie Alexa

I don’t think I can express how much I have fallen in love. It’s official guys she’s the one.

When my brother  first told me Taimane was expecting, I waited for his reaction. I was the first one he told, and I simply asked “How do you feel?”

The smile on his face was priceless. He was so excited.
Many moons to today, he messages me that Taimane has gone into labor, sadly though at 2:30am I was asleep. As soon as I wake up at 9am, naturally I check my phone. She’s here! I jolted out of bed and got dressed. I wish I could say I left my apartment immediately, and I did sort of, but not until I did a happy dance.
I picked up some Chinese food to feed the new parents, purchased about 8 balloons and made my way to the hospital. I’m on my way to Labor & Delivery. It really hit me in the elevator. I start tearing up, happy tears. I’m about to meet my niece, my little big brother is a dad now, everything is changing. From this point on everything is about her. I’m so emotional.
I walked in to the room, and Taimane seemed like nothing even happened. She wasn’t in any pain, just sleepy. What a trooper. Kiki on the other hand was already on overprotective mode. Sweetest thing ever.
They tell me she was born at 9:11am in the morning, she’s a healthy 6 pound baby, with a nice full set of hair. She’s perfect.
I held her and my heart just melted. This is what love is.

Atlantic City 2015

Vacations. We all need them, and want them even more. Chris’s mom, Millie has spoiled us rotten. She planned a whole family trip to Atlantic City. I’ve been brushing up on my card gaming skills, you know, just in case.

I have never been, and was pretty excited.

The car ride was pretty uncomfortable, but we all managed through, when we finally got to spread our legs, the sight of the hotel made us forget about the pain. The lobby was full of machines, everything was so bright and light up. I only thought to myself.. If this is how cool A.C. looks, imagine Las Vegas?

We headed to the rooms to get comfy, and headed right back out to roam the Atlantic City boardwalk, which was pretty chilly surprisingly. When we got back, the boy, Chris and Matthew, taught us girls how to play poker. I’ve always wanted to learn, and even though Chris has tried to teach me before.. for some reason, I was finally understanding it now. Maybe it had to do with all the beer in my system.

The next day, we roamed the boardwalk some more, played in the sand and soaked up some sun rays with more beers. Beers are always the answer.

Dinner with the family was great. We all had burgers, keeping it simple and oh, so satisfying.

I’ll admit, that bubble bath was everything, especially since I had a special someone and some wine to join me. The hotel pool party was way too good, and i was feeling the buzz in no time. I was pretty much in my own world the whole time.

Chris started making conversation with some girl in a white dress and after a couple minutes I decided to go be nosy (you know…just in case) and when I looked at her, I immediately recognized her. I’ve met Laurie about once and have had her on my social media for some time now. We spent the rest of the night chatting up a storm, and drinking with her and her beau.

The morning and check out time came a little too quickly. Chris was knocked out, while I packed our things. Ashley and Matt were already done and I’m running around trying to make sure we didn’t forget anything.

This tiny getaway was much needed. i had a great time. Thank you so much Millie, for allowing to be a party of your family’s escapades.

Dominican Republic. Day 8: Domingo de Domino’s

1 2 3My face is still a  mess, and since I can’t really go out much, spending the day in with family is always great.

Domingo de Domino’s = Sunday of Dominoes

My camera has been collecting dust these last couple of days while I heal, even though I promised myself I would take pictures everyday, no matter what it was. So of course I grabbed a few shots of my family in their natural habitat, lol.

Laughing it up, playing, blasting music and drinking.

Aaaaaaaaah, isn’t family great!?5The little cutie in red is Edward, he loves oranges as you can tell. That’s my cousin Yoca’s son. And the mean mugger in the trike is Frandy, my cousin Franklin’s son. Both full of different personality.

I can sit in this rocking chair and watch them play all day, they are hilarious and so damn smart!
6This right here is my ”Adam and Eve.”

My grandparent Lilia and Ernesto are the two most sweetest souls I have ever met. They look so beautiful and in love. Tomorrow I most definitely have to go pay a visit to my abuelo’s grave. I never really had the chance to say goodbye when he passed.

He always had a good game of dominoes in the backyard with his fellow mates, and a beer in hand, ready with witty remarks.

I think he would be proud of my grandmother. She’s the glue to it all. Mostly everyone in this house has grown and moved, had kids and have lives to live. But they all manage to be here everyday, spouses, kids, dogs and all.

Our family has gotten bigger and better in time.
