Travel : Washington D.C. 2019

Sometimes it’s time to escape the hustle and bustle of NYC, and find some bustle somewhere else.
Weekend getaways tend to be my favorite. I can pack a small backpack with me, have a new adventure and go back to work on Monday like nothing ever happened.

A friend recently told me about Bolt bus (and yes, I may be late to the party.. even though I took one about 5 years ago to get to Boston, and completely forgot they existed) and it was time to hit the road.
I visited Washington D.C. a long time ago as a kid. I must have been around 10 years old. I still remember the bright baggy mustard pants, and the turquoise and purple windbreaker jacket I was wearing(It was the late 90’s okaaaay) Think, little Dominican girl dressed like The Fresh Prince, hahaha. My dad’s car ended up leaving us on the side of the road, and our choice was to rent something, anything to get there the rest of the way.    The closest rental car spot only had a limo left…it was the best entrance I’ve made to the white house. How can you possibly beat that?
Adulting is a little different, I hopped off the bus and roamed the streets, taking  in everything so I can remember it this time.
Getting caught in the rain, and not really caring about my hair or clothes was just an extra touch of freedom.
One of my favorite things about has got to be the endless amounts of free museums. If you find yourself visiting, I promise you, your biggest expense is going to be getting there and figuring out where you’re sleeping. And that wasn’t even too costly. I didn’t really do any bar hopping, but museum hopping was all the rage this weekend. Check  out The Smithsonians if you plan on visiting.

Mood Board No.10: Atlanta to the Rescue

My next mini adventure is coming right around the corner. Initially the plans were to spend three whole days in Atlanta, Georgia partying it up at the infamous “Tomorrow World” music festival. You know, kind of like what I did in Puerto Rico’s Electric Daisy Carnival.

Now I’m kind of thinking I rather just do one day instead and wander the city for a bit. Bathe in the scenery and take a new place in.

I’m at awe of the pictures online from their aquarium. You stand right under a huge arch, where you see all kinds of sea life just swimming above you. How pretty that must be in person. In Stone Mountain Park, you ride a tram that leads you to so much history.

Well, I guess we’ll see. There’s still some time left to discuss details. Either way, I know it’s going to be a great time!

Atlantic City 2015

Vacations. We all need them, and want them even more. Chris’s mom, Millie has spoiled us rotten. She planned a whole family trip to Atlantic City. I’ve been brushing up on my card gaming skills, you know, just in case.

I have never been, and was pretty excited.

The car ride was pretty uncomfortable, but we all managed through, when we finally got to spread our legs, the sight of the hotel made us forget about the pain. The lobby was full of machines, everything was so bright and light up. I only thought to myself.. If this is how cool A.C. looks, imagine Las Vegas?

We headed to the rooms to get comfy, and headed right back out to roam the Atlantic City boardwalk, which was pretty chilly surprisingly. When we got back, the boy, Chris and Matthew, taught us girls how to play poker. I’ve always wanted to learn, and even though Chris has tried to teach me before.. for some reason, I was finally understanding it now. Maybe it had to do with all the beer in my system.

The next day, we roamed the boardwalk some more, played in the sand and soaked up some sun rays with more beers. Beers are always the answer.

Dinner with the family was great. We all had burgers, keeping it simple and oh, so satisfying.

I’ll admit, that bubble bath was everything, especially since I had a special someone and some wine to join me. The hotel pool party was way too good, and i was feeling the buzz in no time. I was pretty much in my own world the whole time.

Chris started making conversation with some girl in a white dress and after a couple minutes I decided to go be nosy (you know…just in case) and when I looked at her, I immediately recognized her. I’ve met Laurie about once and have had her on my social media for some time now. We spent the rest of the night chatting up a storm, and drinking with her and her beau.

The morning and check out time came a little too quickly. Chris was knocked out, while I packed our things. Ashley and Matt were already done and I’m running around trying to make sure we didn’t forget anything.

This tiny getaway was much needed. i had a great time. Thank you so much Millie, for allowing to be a party of your family’s escapades.

Bonnaroo 2014

Sometimes images aren’t enough, I know I have bombarded you guys with so much from this trip to Tennessee. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to do it some more. Check out this video from our festivities. It was all fun, laughs, a lot of sweating and exhaustion wrapped into one.

Bonnaroo Music Festival: Day 2

DSC04488Today was a no bra day.  “F” that. Don’t get me wrong, I start off with one, but they never last. Kind of like my romance life. haha. I have to make it funny or else it’s just sad.

The fellas are outside starting up a beer pong rivalry. I’m afraid to mention I have never played before. They’ll get me started in no time. Beer to me, is good to a minimum. I love it, but I have a pot belly that does not need to be exaggerated.

Matthew and Ashley are kicking ass at this game. Obviously it’s not their first time, their double team is ridiculous.

I started to play, Oh, man, I suck! My aim is horrible. After getting laughed at …… a lot, I managed to make a couple of shots on my own. Surprising not only everyone else, but me as well. But, ah, all this beer!

Making friends with our camping neighbors was easy and amusing. After bonding over our beer bong table, kicking some ass. While some of us sat on the side lines playing the congas, it was time for some adult fun. We later on headed to the farm to finally go see some performances.

Everyone is so hyped up and positive. I absolutely love it. What a great energy to be around. High fives for everyone!DSC04564.JPGDSC04546DSC04548 DSC04549 DSC04589 DSC04573 DSC04575

First stop, Janelle Monae. What a beauty! Before anything else, I loved her set and her background singers attiire, especially because I’m such a huge a fan of black and white print. I was also happy seeing her because I was dedicated to seeing her perform in Brooklyn at Prospect Park about a week ago, and never really bothered to the show up. Back to the Roo..

Her song “Queen” featuring Erykah Badu is way too catchy. Getting to the front of the stage was a hassle. Not only because there was a lot of people, but because even if you got close enough, getting out was way worse.

Oh, and now I know, sandals may be comfy, but not when you’re dealing with mud. Squishy dirty toes are never cute. Good thing after a while of dancing and getting lost in the moment, you don’t really sweat small stuff like that.

Kanye West was a big disappointment as a performer. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Kanye music, so whenever he did happen to sing, I was jamming along side with him. His arrogance killed it, and it seemed like he was just pushing his fans away. Not only was somewhat insulting his fan base, he started to play ” runaway from me baby, just runaway” right after it. I guess you already know what happened. Everyone started  screaming ” Fuck Kanye!”

Ramon jumped in the fountain…. oh man, If you thought it was pretty it in the day time, it is gorgeous at night!

Ashley and I painted our faces for the night in gold paint… we were fierce!
