I haven’t seen my cousins in quite some time. Jonahs was turning two years old, and knowing Sasha and Ramgy, they were going to go in. Last year they had a cute sailors, aquatic theme, which was way too adorable. They dressed up as a sailors and were a huge hit. This time, everything was sports related, so when they came out with matching jersey’s everyone was giving out compliments back and forth.
Getting there for me was a bit of a mission though. I had a weekend bag with me, and I was also going to be picking up two kittens the next day, so taking two trains and a bus was such an inconvenience. Maybe I should finally get my act together and learn how to drive already. My gorgeous date was MaryAnn, since we usually get together on Wednesdays, we decide to make a flip and hang out on a weekend. She’s such a trooper, especially since she came out so far just to hang out with little old me.
She was so excited when she got a taste of that cotton candy though!
This get together was a curl take down. I was so happy when I saw my cousins rocking their natural swirls. It’s a beautiful thing.
Jonahs was looking too cute in his jersey , blue and white stripes and his tiny little fitted. Now that he’s getting a little older I see the resembles to Sasha so much more now. I find it so damn cute.If you know me at all, or even just an ounce of a bit, you know that whenever I hear music, I’m already up and dancing. When that Salsa started to play, I grab anybody and everybody and pulled them to the open space we called a dance floor.
When the little kid party was over, it was time for the adults to have a little fun. We headed to Sasha’s and Ramgy’s put the music on loud, served the drinks and got the hookah started. You know latinos, any chance for a party, is a great party.

My work shift blessed me with the ability of leaving early. Oli and I made plans to catch up and I was excited. Oli and I were never really close in High School, and for some reason we’ve grown attached to the hip nowadays. I’m not complaining one bit.
We met up in McCarren Park in Wililamsburg, and waited on the long ass line to get to the pool. For the first time in almost ever, I was actually looking forward to tanning. Something I hate to do.
I feel like this summer has started so late for me, but that doesn’t mean my skin has to reflect that. Good thing Oli was prepared and we drowned ourselves in tanning oil. I felt like a chicken being rotated in a rotisserie.
It sucks that we couldn’t take pictures in the pool, but hanging out with Oli is always a breath of fresh air. i get to vent and just let out all of my frustrations. She’s like a cheap therapist…hahaha.
When we jumped in the pool, some 2 girls decided to forget what personal space was, and propped their towels directly right in front of us. How rude! I have no shame, and moved their towel for them. She noticed, I’m sure… but she’ll get over it. I was so hype that I got a bit of sun, but now that I’m looking at myself, I don’t see it anymore…booo.

I swear, I have to beg my godson Zj to go outside and have some fun. All he wants to do is stay locked inside playing video games. Not cool. At least not in my book. When I was a kid, all I wanted was to be outside, all day, everyday. I would be outside playing football with my brothers and the neighborhood dorks (boys), or I would just sit at my stoop drawing. Anything as long as I wasn’t stuck inside. Maybe because every time I was indoors, and happened to bump into my mother, if she saw I was bored, all of a sudden I had a new chore to do.. to you know “keep me occupied, since I’m not doing anything.”
Getting Zj to come outside was a struggle as usual, his feet stomping on the concrete while we made our way to the park. It is officially 88 degrees today, but if you ask me that sun was beaming straight at us. After Mr. Attitude calmed down, 2 blocks in, he finally got excited and started being a good boy, telling me stories about superheroes and some shows I had no idea what they were. The shows that is.. I love me some Marvel and DC characters.
I knew the sprinklers would be on due to this torching heat, and the only thing that stopped me from not jumping in was the fact that I knew I had to protect my hair. Hey, don’t laugh! I have plans coming up. Being Dominican has it’s perks, but when it comes to hair it’s usually a hassle when humidity decides to be an asshole, and I end up looking like a beat up brillo pad.
I’ve been messing with Black and White photographs as of lately, and don’t ask me why. I think it’s just the fact that the moment in time looks so elegantly captured. Following Zj around is always
exhausting fun. Especially since he has so much energy when he’s happy. But I just love that little smile. No matter how slick he may be with his little snarky comebacks.
He’s recently lost his tooth and that little window peeking through his mouth is just too cute!
When we finally got home it was time for popsicles. Zj opted for cherry, while I of course went straight for the grape… later on realizing I was decked out in all purple, aooooow!

This must be baptizing season, not that I’m complaining. This is when I get some nice action, or should I say Belle, my canon gets some action. Long time friend, who I barely see, but should really make some more time for her, because she’s such a sweetheart Stephanie, hit me up because her adorable looking son was ready to rock all white for the big guy upstairs.
I have to admit, I took more than 500 pictures for this event. A bigger family usually means everyone wants a personalized touch. One thing I didn’t mind at all. Plus, since I have met Steph’s family a long time ago (we met in 3rd grade and officially became friends in 7th grade) getting them to pose, was super easy. A task I usually have a hard time doing when it comes to large groups, since usually someone doesn’t tend to grasp the concept. Everyone was so great and attentive. The main big guy for the day Sylas, was a different story, since he was feeling a bit feverish (awwww) it was a little tough to get him smiling. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t look adorable as every with that little pout of his, I mean, look at those cheeks!
I sent Steph options in color as well as black and white, though the colored ones were super cute, I feel like black and white did just enough justice, for the day. I’ve include some of my favorites in this post, since I would never over load you guys with 500 pictures at once!
I hope you guys like!

My original plan was go to Central Park’s annual water fight, where hundreds of New Yorkers get together and well, fight! After stopping by my local toy shop to pick up some water guns (seems like I buy new ones every time, because I always give them away to little kids or something) I met up with good friends Maryann and Kevin, the cutest couple ever.
We finally arrived at the park, even though we thought we were gonna get lost because I never been to that side of the park before. We found the Great Lawn in no time. Now the problem was, we didn’t see anybody wetting each other like crazy. All we saw was people tanning on the grass and baseball being played.
That wasn’t gonna stop us from having fun regardless…. it was each man for themselves, and since there were only 2 guns, someone was assed out on rotation.
We stopped by The Turtle Pond, where Kevin found some berries and got us girls to grow some “cojones” and feed the turtles, one which snapped right away at Maryann. Mine was a bit fussy, and after chasing him for a few seconds, he finally gave in.
The sun was beaming and the water pistols were refreshing after all that catching up and “hiking” we were doing. At least that’s what it felt like we were doing. My combat rain boots didn’t help.
After the stroll, M & K were read for part two of their day, they were headed to Brooklyn Bridge to go bicycling. While walking to the train, Maryann surprised with the cutest gift.
I looooove sunflowers, they’re my favorite flowers if I had to pick one. That and cactus, but back to the sunflowers. I have never owned sunflowers, let alone received them as a gift, let alone received them for no reason.
MaryAnn was sneaky about it while shopping for them, I gave her the best hug I knew how. Now they sit on my kitchen table looking absolutely beautiful.

After Jeremy’s confirmation, the kids and my sister Julissa headed to the park. The adults stayed at home, gossiping like old Dominicans do. And by adults, i mean real adults, not us 25 and 21 year olds. I’m still a kid at heart, so hey.
I wanted to take some nice pictures of Jeremy since he was looking so spiffy in his collared shirt and tie. He told me he felt cooler with his shades, which I couldn’t agree more.
Gialin (my sister’s niece) and Zj (my godson) hit it off well, not that it’s hard for kids to make friends fast. (Kind of jealous of that fact really). I had some fun pushing them on the swings and watching them run around.
I’m so glad I wore some comfy heels, because the way I was running around everywhere.. no wonder I have huge calves!

I will forever be the biggest kid on the block… I spent the day getting a pina colada and swinging on swings.
Sometimes letting go and having the simple things in life is what makes it all worth while.
