Date nights with my girls are always a must. I read somewhere (and don’t ask me where) some time ago, “Treat you boyfriend like your friend, and you friendships like a relationship, and they’ll both be better for it.”
Sometimes, being too on top of a boyfriend adds strain, the last thing they need is someone nagging all the time, and if you relax and try not to judge every aspect of their being (what they did, what they said, what they didn’t do, what they didn’t say) you’ll get along a lot more. Being in a relationship is supposed to be about having a person who always has your back, and wants to spend time with you. And who want’s t0 spend time with you, when you’re being a party pooper?
From time to time, when us girls are so emotionally invested in our men, we forget that our friends even exists. We cancel plans, we forget what’s going on each other’s lives and bonds loosen. Making date nights with girl friends are essential. Treat them good, because they just may last longer than your fling.
This time, Judy and I had a lot of catching up to do. Now that Jud is a momma, I understand how hectic life can be, and me, that I’m always on the move, it gets a little tricky for us to make time for each other. It was time to make it happen, we ordered some Piña Colada’s and started spilling our guts.
Omg… so much drama… I swear we should have our reality show. After the drinks, guacamole, splurging on wine we headed to mi casa. It was chick flick night, and we were cracking up watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. The part where the women pull each other’s neck back when taking a picture, was too real! (Maybe I should start trying that)

I haven’t seen Nikki since we got back from Europe. So much has happened, and a lot of things haven’t happened as well. That’s life isn’t it? We had some catching up to, and Nikki and I did it all while stuffing our faces with tostitos.
We needed some wine, and when we headed to the liquor store, we ended up having to make a second trip because they didn’t take credit. What? Who doesn’t take credit nowadays?
2 bottles of wine later, we got all comfy in bed and put on a chick flick. I honestly put on the first one Netflix recommended, so “Man Up” it was. Lake Bell is way too funny. This movie only made me realize how hard it is to be dating now a days, and a part of me is grateful that I don’t have to deal with that burden or constant microscoping of anything or everything that is done. Relationships come with their own hurdle of course, but I think the constant worry of trying to impress someone is mentally exhausting.
Girls night in tends to be my favorite. Thanks for coming over Nik.

What do you want to do for your birthday? He asks me, I stop and think and I honestly don’t even know.
I didn’t want to go out dancing or anything like that, secretly all I wanted to do was spend a nice day in. I wanted to be all cozy, lazy with him and just drink wine all day.
Every and any time I attempt to watch a romantic movie while he’s around, I automatically hear snoring. He just won’t have it. Either it’s sports or an action film. So I’ve learned to indulge in my corny movies when he’s already asleep. This time, being my birthday and all, I was set in building a fort in the living room and watching chick flicks all night.
“Don’t come back if it’s not with wine!” he chuckles and brings back home 2 bottles. Oooeee! We chopped up some avocados and cheese to pick on that paired perfectly.
I have to admit, building the fort I was getting a little antsy. It seemed like it wasn’t staying up, and my frustration was starting to show. Chris took over and kept telling me to relax, and with good reason because we got it up, and all of a sudden I was all smiles. I picked my all time favorite movie “Serendipity“. When I was younger I had this movie on DVD, I think I scratched the hell out of it, from how many times I played it back to back.
I was so happy knowing he actually stayed awake… that alone made my birthday the absolute best.
Sometimes you don’t need much, I’m so grateful for everything and everyone I have in my life. It’s the little things that mean the most to me, and this birthday was everything I wanted.

I’m going to start this entry with a ” I’m so fucking stupid…”
Moving on, you’ll soon start to realize why.
I haven’t seen Oli, since maybe our date at the pool, hm…lie. She came to my house after that where we caught up with wine. Wine is usually in play with our get together’s.
We were meeting after work, and I was busy scratching my head on what to possibly do.
When it comes to girl dates, I’m usually the one in charge, don’t ask me why. I like being the one to plan things, responsible for the good times, sometimes it’s tricky finding different things to do in the city.
Drink and Draw, it was perfect. According to the website, we were going to be offered wine and materials. According to Yelp, because you always have to check reviews, hahaha, it would be better if you B.Y.O.B. due to the fact that you don’t get much of it at this event.
So when Oli mentioned she came with 2 bottles and not just one, I was ready to jump for joy.
We showed up and the place was tiny, had chairs set up, there’s supplies and wine already set up in cups for every one to grab. The figure model was a pretty red head who stripped as soon as we were all ready to start drawing. She had her timer set up in intervals of 2 min, 5 minutes and then 10. Oli picked pencil, which explains why you can’t see any of her drawings, hahaha while I decided to go for charcoal, and that’s something we all know can get pretty messy.
I asked the host for a wine bottle opener, since Oli and I chugged our tiny cups so quickly. I struggled to open the bottle at first and was scared the cork would get stuck, but I got it.. and we started sipping away. It didn’t take long for us to be the loudest ones in the class. I think everyone hated us or were just a tad bit jealous that we had more booze. Maybe they should have thought ahead.
When our class was over, we were a little tipsy, more in fun that in actual inebriation. But when you’re in the moment, anything and everything is possible. I was taking photographs of Oli in front of a mural and a drunk guy starts conversation. At first he seemed innocent enough, and when he insisted on taking a picture of both Oli and I our night changed.
I simply told him, if you want to take a picture of us, you’ll have to give me something of collateral, give me cash, your ID and a sneaker. The sneaker was mostly for ridicule, because if you’re going to steal my camera, you’re going to be hopping away while you do it.
There was no way that I was going to hand off my precious, hard worked for equipment because I was too trusting. He actually handed me cash, his ID and I guess he realized what he was doing when I was waiting for the shoe.
It became this huge deal, and Oli was busy snapping away pictures in case things got out of hand, and I one point I was just like -fuck it-
We started to walk away, and that’s when all the rambling when on.
I had so many snapchat comments in the morning about how we had them cracking up it was insane. I’ll be posting the video in a few minutes, so stay tuned!

How sad is it, that you have some different great locations in your hometown and you never get to experience them? So many people travel to NYC to see all the sights, buildings, monuments etc. and knowing that we have all of this beauty in our backyard and just letting it go to waste.
Oli and I met up, for our first time visit to The Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Everything was absolutely stunning. We walked in on a sunny day , bright and gorgeous. The colors were so vivid. We kept stopping at almost every flower. When we arrived at the wishing well, I already had an idea of what I wanted.
Hanging out with Oli is always the best. We catch up on all of our boy troubles and cutesy moments. We discuss work and what’s our next moves in life.
We stopped by the gift shop where I fell with the cutest succulent (love those!) I regret not buying it. After all the walking and getting caught in the rain, it was time for what I do best…wine.
We ordered some rosé and split some sweet potatoes fries…yum!

After work, I headed over to meet Ashley. While on a trip to the Hamptons, being the silly soul that she is, mistook a step and ended up fracturing her foot. 6 weeks at home, Doctor’s orders. I told her I was on my way to keep her company, until I found out she had a Doctor’s appointment for a follow up. This was our day, full of getting lost on the wrong floor, amazing homemade pizza, and a lot of wine with a chick flick.
I ended up painting a little something something on her cast for faster healing, or at least good hoping!

I started my day at work…but guess what…
I am officially 26…. I’m getting sooooo old!
ok, ok…I’ll save the cliche birthday mantras for another time. Chris spolied me with a night planned with my favorite things, great people, wine and dancing… what else could a girl ask for?
Reservations were at 9:30pm and we made it right at time… speed demon to the rescue. Since I was basking in the whole wine vibe, I was going to pick something from Italy, but when looking over the menu, all of us went crazy for the Spanish wines. Ramon and Chris ordered a bottle of Merlot, while I went with one that I don’t remember, but I distinctly remember asking the waitress for something not too fruity or to dry. That’s when she mentioned a wine medium bodied which was absolutely delicious.
Cintia and Tati went with dessert wine, Moscato, and when Vanessa and Manny arrived, she chose a Pinot Noir from France that was delicious. I actually made the mistake of mixing The Pinot Noir with the moscato and it was pretty damn good!
After all the picking on food, drinking I was ready to start dancing, and even though I was in the mood for some spanish dancing, I couldn’t be too picky since it was a last minute decision. I’m down for anything with a beat.
We headed to the LES and arrived at Pianos. That’s when the real drinks started pouring.
I’m so grateful I got to spend my night with a group of great friends.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful night, and thank you Chris for all that you do, you’re appreciated!
