Almudena Cathedral, it wasn’t even one of the stops we were headed to. I’m so glad we walked in. I’ve seen the inside of many churches, and yes they are all so beautiful in their own ways, but this one had patterns for days. When you look up high it seemed like there were textiles on the ceilings. Intricate details with so many colors.
There was this one room, aw man, you would just die if you saw it.
Tourists were not allowed to enter, which makes it obvious that pictures weren’t allowed to be taken. I stepped in anyway, took a seat in the back and just observed quietly. The whole room was golden mosaics, images of saints, Jesus Christ, Saint Mary, everything was just everything… gold. I loved it.
Christopher is a huge fan of Egypt, so when we learned that there was a Temple that was donated to Madrid, when they helped aid their temples. We got to the Temple of Debod right on time, the tour guide was just starting. I actually found the spanish a bit difficult to understand, and tried my best at every pause to translate for Nikki.
After such a long day I was excited for dinner. I was starving and on our walk back I was eager to find anything that these 2 picky eaters could finally say “yes” to. Everything wasn’t good enough. I was staring to get a bit cranky, and all the wait was well worth it. Chris spotted Fatigas Del Querer, right on Calle de la Cruz, it was just calling us in. Gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce) was delicious, which I didn’t order, but hey, if Chris orders it.. I get a cut.

It’s a gorgeous day, and a lazy one at that, at least that’s how it started. Ramon was in the city, and Chris tells me we have plans. Ramon and his woman Fitgi are already on their way, so we start getting dressed and picking up some breakfast. Coffee is always so good to me.
There happens to be driving range that always pass whenever I would go to Orchard Beach, never paid attention to it. Turtle Cove was nice. Everyone had a club in their hand, including a few small kids. I figured, if they could do it, so can I.
I’ve been to a hitting range once, some time ago (see that post HERE)… I sucked both times. hahaha. Fitgi looked like she had the perfect outfit for today, with her little golfing skirt, so cute. Ramon was in his “Platano Woods” moment. His play on a Dominican Tiger Woods, and Chris was doing pretty well for himself…. after a few bad hits.
Not that I should be talking smack. I felt like I couldn’t hit anything, I kept swinging but the golf all was still on the tee after. boooooo. I tried playing left handed, and for some reason, I felt like I had better control of the club.
What? That’s so weird. I’m definitely right handed, so I don’t know what that was all about. I actually hit a good FEW balls, so I was pretty satisfied with myself.
It’s time to eat, and of course we head to City Island, not because it’s so close, but shrimp and a piña colada would be soooo perfect right about now. Tony’s Pier is always the choice when we arrive at the end of the island. The drinks were ordered, the food was ready. We sat outside and talked shit about everything around us.
There were some cornballs on jet skis doing tricks and a whole bunch of sea gulls flying right above us. Ramon ended up hexing himself, because he ended up getting blessed by some bird shit on his sleeve. hahahaha quien te manda! It was a nice relaxing day, and I don’t understand why I get so tired lately. I was ready to take a nice long nap. I think I’m getting old. At least my nap will be well redeemed for such a good day with better people.

Another day in the city. Marcela and I started at a hood spot near home for “breakfast” even though technically it was like 3pm. A friend Crystal has been telling me non-stop about this place, and I figured it was about that time. I texted her to ask for suggestions, and she stressed how I better get a drink. Apparently this place has super strong drinks for a good amount and an even better price, I was sold. She suggested the blue Hawaiian, but I decided to go for a piña colada, one of my weak spots. Marci went for a Miami Vice, hers was pretty good, but she was complaining that it was too strong, while I was too busy slurping my drink and wishing I had more. The food was pretty damn good. We have been on this shrimp fest lately so that’s what we went with.
We headed to 5th avenue right after, I mean, we needed to walk off this gluttony somehow. We went into Bergdorf Goodman, where we got to stare at pretty $20,000 dresses that we could never afford, walked through central park for a bit, I showed her Rockefeller Center and even went inside the St. Patrick’s Cathedral. How sad is it that I used t work right across the street for a year and never stepped foot inside, shame on me. It was beautiful, no matter how much of a mess it looked like because of all the construction. When we walked in the mass was just ending, Marcela lit a candle and said a quick prayer for a friend, and we headed to dinner afterwards. I swear, I can get used to used this. I’ve always been one to try new foods (unless it has curry or pickles) but I never realized how much I actually haven’t tried hard enough to expand my taste buds. We walked into a tiny spot on 5th and 56th, we ordered some Ramen, and it was delicious!

Day 2 with Marcela. It was time to do all of those touristy things New Yorkers never do, and like many New Yorkers, we pass history everyday and usually don’t know any of the background about it. Sad truth. Marcela isn’t used to walking much in Cali, so I know her feet were hating me at the end of the night, if it makes things better, my stomach was loving her! We walked around Times Square, where she got to see the pretty lights, Bryant Park, where she got her first official New York Hot Dog, Grand Central, where she fel in love with the architecture.
As per Marci’s request we headed to The Boil, a restaurant I have never been too, and it won’t be the last. As seafood lovers, we ordered shrimp that comes seasoned in bags, and you end up having to destroy… hence the bibs and gloves, since it gets pretty stinky, cajun fries matched it perfectly, and I was one happy camper.

We rolled deep.. But let me start at the beginning.
Once I got there no one was home, so we, Ari and I headed to the laundromat, where Z and Kat was. Zj had the cutest new toy. Some X-men thumb wrestlers. How cute are they!? Me with my chubby little boy fingers.
Ari and decided to help fold clothes to speed up the process, which helped for the time being. We all headed to back to Z’s, and spent about an hour talking non-sense and taking back to back shots of E&J. Jaga and I had 5 shots and I hear Jerm being a baby about shot number three.
We got there and ordered up… Jerm decided to plank on the table and Zj got excited and jumped on the table to attempt to do the same… waaaaay too cute!
We got up to pick up the food…I’m standing there waiting, along with everyone else, the place was packed. The guy behind the counter places the plate of food right in front of me…
I grabbed a french fry and start munching.. the guy next to me ( pic above) looks at me all crazy, and I’m completely lost as to why he’s staring at me… turns out that was his food I was eating!
I felt so bad! I kept apologizing, but I couldn’t help but keep laughing! Ari and Jerm were just picking on me, calling me a fatass, and saying how I gave people from the Bronx a bad name! Hey! It wasn’t my fault!
After all the shrimp, ribs, french fries ( mines this time! ), onion rings and pina coladas, we headed outside and started buggin out in front of the cars.
We all started throwing up tags on the cars that were filled with dust or mist.
I was trying to convince Blah to plank on top of the car, and he came out with the ” I’ll do it , if you do it.” So you know damn well I did it! Heels and all! Hey, at least my tush looks cute. he climb on top of the car after =] Good job Blah!
We headed to the point for a little while and got bored quickly, somehow everyone managed to bumrush the front of my house at 2:30 in the morning, all drunk and loud….
For some strange reason my mother was awake and we all start cracking jokes and even dance a little bachata in my living room, next stop Jerm’s house….Oh man, what a mess!
Everyone was all hyper and excited…Some how the magic boot appeared and everyone opened up some more!
We managed to mix in about 6 beers of coronas and like 1/4 of Hennesy.
Jors passed out, hair braiding got started, blackbooks were being passed, and a lot screaming was involved. Mostly from me.
