A documentary and a public family event hosted by Marthalicia.
Throughout the summer of 2013, cameras followed four New York City artists as they joined others at 5 Pointz,
a well-known quarter in Queens, NY, where artists from all over come out to create art and celebrate freedom of expression by showcasing their art across building walls.
The artists took to the famed brick canvas to paint the phrase “The Artist Process” captured it all on film.
Acclaimed New York City “live art performer”
“We all live in NYC, so we all have a rhythm…These are just
layers, you can say, of all the art that has been expressed here…
I hope this event can show and tell people there is a lot of love
for the creating and hopefully this love can equal positive energy.”
The Artist Process,
*The mission for this documentary, is to help non visual artist and artist alike to share their skills to the public.
*The mission of the mural is to work collectively with others, with the sounds provided by the musical performers and poets, as the b-boys and b-girls dance to the rhythm of both the spoken and harmony of the sounds/beats.
Hopefully the public can witness the love we have for what we do, and in return appreciate the struggles of the artist to help understand our need to keep the arts thriving and living, if not for our life time, but for our children’s life time.
“The Artist Process”is a documentary in the lives of New York City artist. The purpose of creating these documentaries or such event is to educate those that are unaware and unfamiliar to the many artist that we have present in our life time, that are utilizing their talents for the betterment of today’s youth. Those that participated in the 2009 summer “T.A.P.”that was held in 5 POINTZ, Queens, can tell you how of a great impact it was for them and others to unite together and perform to the public. This time around, a new twist and idea came about to better help bring a closer view to how the artist see themselves and their art.Meet the ARTIST for the 2013 visual Showcase:

My Mr.Minx dropped me off in Queens and hurried along to work, trying not to be late.
The heat was unbearable and I know I wasn’t the only one feeling it.
I dressed as comfy as I possibly could, knowing I was gonna stain all my clothes anyway.
I decided to work with spray paint and acrylic.
My main focus most of the time was the hair….
oh maaaaan, it took me fooooorever!
Everyone was so nice, networking and cracking jokes.
This Artist Process was part 3, and my second to date. I attended and painted on the first one and not the second one. You can see that post here.
There was so many little kids running around, dancing, breaking, painting and “borrowing” our supplies.
Cortes had the letter C, in blue and grey skulls, with red ones in the background… he made it look so simple and finished it so quickly, 1-2-3.
His shadows and highlights were great.
Sek 3 was pretty damn dope and broke out in a very patriotic piece in red and blue with stars and polka dots….
oooooo…..polka dots ♥
He was pretty good to, I was impressed.
Since I was so busy painting,I knew I wasn’t going to have to much time to get all the shots of this event like I wanted to.
The bestfriend Misha came through and I know she was pretty upset she forgot her SD memory card at home and wasn’t able to take any pics at all.
After everyone was done painting, and yes.. I was one of the last ones to actually finish painting, due to the fact that I was working with brushes.
It’s funny though, because we were all required to submit in a sketch for the respective letter that was given to us, and yes I submitted mine in..
A few steps away the music was blasting and many were dancing.
There was a Bboy, Bgirl competition hosted by Chief 69 going on, and everyone was going in .
On the side there was ArtistNameLong getting his juices flowing and painting the mural DURING the time it’s actually getting painted.
That must be so difficult.
Not only painting what’s not finished, blocked by everyone in the way, but have to duplicate everyone’s work in the process.
I can’t wait to see the end result!
(He’ll be mailing me the end result, so you guys better stay tuned for that)
After all the commotion, Philartiste, Misha, Randy and I went to a diner to catch up and talk silliness.
We walked back to 5 ptz, since the sun went down and was actually better weather… ( so much for that storm that was supposed to happen)
and went inside to see an exhibit, a very sexual exhibit might I add.
The canvases, prints and displays all were incorporated with sex.
The female and male body.
the list goes on and on…..
It was actually pretty cool.
The day was great.

Time to celebrate my brother AR’s birthday.
Though I wasn’t able to show up to the BBQ that was being held in the park earlier, due to work…. as soon as I escaped I rushed right over to City Island to meet up with AR and others.
I rushed right over and got stuck with the coolest cabby. He’s def trying to flirt with me and I keep being my normal sarcastic self.
He tells me: I like you, you should give me your number so you can beat up my baby moms.
As soon as I arrive I get handed a pina colada, not like I’m complaining. I had some catching up to do since everyone was already feeling it.
There was much to celebrate, not only was it AR’s birthday, after officially 12 am it was Father’s Day aaaaaaaaand AR finally proposed, popping the question to Jen!!!!
seeeee, a lot to celebrate…. which meant MORE drinks!
And of course knowing me, I had to grab Mr.T and Jen to dance some bachata with me… Even though there was some bribing of extra pina coladas for him to actually get up and do it!
We headed to Mom’s house ( Jen’s Mom ) and grabbed more drinks of course. Which got the guys all excited, next thing you know Mr.T is wrapping up Seito’s body in Saran wrap!
Good night, good night. ♥

I met up with Jen in Fort Independence with a huge bag of overnight clothes and plans to head to Connecticut.
Plans quickly changed. Destiny, which we all call “Tuti” and is Jen’s niece, was having a performance in her school today.
So we packed up all the kiddies and headed on our way to the MNR. With all the noise and hyper moves everyone quickly scattered giving us places to sit.
That’s Michael, Jen’s brother hooking me up with some chicken wings while we wait for our train to arrive!
Jesse, the youngest brother,Jen and I.
Since we had no napkins to clean up after those chicken wings, to clean up Justen’s hands Jen had the mastermind idea of using pantyliners.lol Oh, man……Poor Justen, he looked humiliated, especially after I snapped a pic!
After finally arriving, a few stops before Poughkeepsie, we were picked up and drove to the school. Though I didn’t get a chance to grab a pic, the school looked beautiful, spacious and almost as if it was fake and able to be used as a backdrop for some cliche highschool movie.
Tuti did great though. She first sang Adele’s Someone like you, then Ceelo Green’s Forget You. of course, it has to be forget you, keeping it classy for the kids.
She then came out, sang and danced a trio in her stunning glittery red dress. Yes, the definitely stole the show!
Here’s a few pics of her special night. ( You guys should already know when you click on any picture it becomes larger )
Everyone was so proud of her! Once the show was over, we all headed out to Giacomo’s for pizza. Where my plate was looking way too good for my own good. I had pizza, a philly cheese steak, philly cheese chicken and some organic fresh mozzarella pizza that was waaaaaay too good!
This family is so inviting, you can clearly see how much love they have for one another. I’ve met many of them on separate occasions, but there’s something about special occasions, I felt so welcomed and grateful for being able to share this moment with them.
Look how cute they are !
Especially with all these little princesses running around who are so fond of their uncles and daddies. Too adorable!
Look at how awesome my plate is, well was..yum! After getting fat we all headed to Mayra, Jen’s sister house and started talking and then a nerf gun fight started!!
I was ready for war.. especially since there was only gun! I would catch the ammo, stuffing my bra with the neon green bullets until I was ready for war!
Once things calmed down we had a little glow in the dark, uv, blacklight fun.
Of course I couldn’t resist leaving my mark with some glow in the dark markers on Jen’s leg =]
Until next time readers !
