Would you like a sandwich or a wrap?
Today I had the opportunity to serve meals to hundreds of hungry and homeless New Yorkers and it felt amazing!
It was such a rush, the line was endless, but every time a new person pulled up to my station, I felt so good knowing I was helping someone else. And their smiles made it all worth while.
Today I gave back to community and I can’t wait to do it again.

This Thanksgiving, I knew things were going to be different. My beautiful matriarch, Abuela Magaly, passed away last month. The whole family has been upset, she was the glue to it all. Her tiny little apartment somehow always manages to fit us all for the holidays, and this time it was no different. Every seat in the house was filled, the kitchen was packed with folk playing catch up, and all the rugrats were running around.
The Christmas tree was already set up, my cousins did such a cute job with it, the sunflowers were probably my favorite. The food was absolutely delicious, and I was ready for plate two, but I didn’t have space for it all.
Seems like every family was doing the
#MannequinChallenge this year. Who were we to try to miss out?
Have you ever tried directing Dominicans to do anything?
What a hassle, there was screaming and laughing and a lot of repetition involved. End result? I think we did pretty damn, until our camera man seemed like he had arthritis. Looks like we were trying to survive an earthquake.
Before arriving to the festivities, I had the opportunity to do something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time. Volunteer! If you guys are frequent readers, you know that recently I started a fundraiser to help feed the homeless and hungry New Yorkers in need. (See that post HERE) Even though I didn’t get to reach my goal, I want to thank each and everyone of you who took the time out to donate, reblog and repost, spreading the word. My goal was only $500, but I’m still extremely grateful for the $150 that was raised. That’s 94 people that get to have a meal this Thanksgiving. Thank you!
I woke up early and headed to The Bowery Mission. I was surprised at how packed the place was. I was excited though, I was ready to make a difference. The energy in the tent I was working on was so uplifting, there were so many volunteers, and staff cheerfully helpful. There was even a small station so kids could pick up a toy on their way out. I highly recommend going out of your way to volunteer and do something nice for someone else.
Check out these quick clips of my day. Also feel free to add me on Snapchat —-> minxinx, for more clips of me and my daily adventures. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. See you guys soon!
