PCOS, Laser Hair Removal & City Photography, What!?

Anyone who has met me, knows that I carry my camera with me everywhere.

I’ve recently invested in Laser Hair Removal treatments. Ever since I found out I have PCOS, I’ve been more insecure about body hair, more usual than considered normal, especially by a woman, Not that women don’t already have enough pressure to be perfect already. I have scars from removing hair the wrong way for years, and this is me trying to slowly correct it. I’ve decided to treat my neck which is my huge problem area, and since I was already willing to go under laser, I splurged for  my bikini  line as well. Might as well make those summer months a little easier to handle.

This is only my second session, and though it may not be dramatic, I have already seen changes in the way my hair grows back. Laser Hair removal targets the hair follicles by the roots, so you’re advised to let your hair grow out naturally for about 6 weeks and then right before your appointment, shave. Whaaaat, I was so upset when I heard that, not only do I have to let this bush grow out, especially on my face (which makes it hard to look at people in the eyes) but I had to put a razor to my face, something I have never done and didn’t want to start doing. Hair has to be closest to the skin’s surface with the root still in tact, so I sucked it up and went for it.

On my first session, I was a bit nervous, after reading many reviews, I noticed many complained it was painful, some had great experiences, and some had scars after it going all wrong. I guess you can see why I was all over the place. The technician that was assigned to me made everything a bit more easing. I laid out on the table and spread my legs.

As I mentioned, I’m only on my second session, so I have about 7 more to go, so far, everything has been going great, it’s quick and easy and absolutely not painful. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. So, moving on.

After my appointment, I rummaged into my purse, taking out the lens that I almost never get to use, my Canon’s 75-300mm. Since I barely use my Canon any more, it’s sadly collecting dust in my room, I purchased an adapter and use it my Sony a6000 whenever I have the chance to take my time and actually pace my shooting. I love taking pictures of people in their natural state, I love how natural emotion shines through, something you don’t get with posed photography. I may be the creep in the corner ( a real far away corner) but I love the outcome of the candids I get. This couple below us, was super sweet, he was singing her love songs and looked like he was just so happy to be there with her. There was a mother daughter duo on the carousel that I ended up giving my business card to, hey, I’m not stingy when it comes to my shots, I have no problem sharing them, she looked surprised at first and then it turned it to be genuine grateful, which I was happy about.

Not everything was good moods though, some were sad, like the lady in the corner who needed some help. I’ll admit, as a New Yorker, I’m not the most trusting, I’ve seen plenty of homeless people scam their way into coming home to more cash than I make a night. I told myself I would give her a buck anyway, as soon as I made my way around the fence that was holding back, once I did, she was gone.

My walk around Bryant Park was nice and relaxing, I walked into a show store, since I’m such an addict. I walked away with empty hands, I’ve been on the hunt for some nice oxfords, you know the shoe of the working people. I haven’t had much luck, with both the shoe and being a working person.signature

Soca for Suckers

I met up with Maryann, with what was supposed to be a night full of dancing. We were meeting Nikki earlier, and since she was running a bit late, we roamed the streets of Soho for some time. Our soca night was supposed to be at Madame X’s. A tiny lounge I remember going to maybe like 3 years ago. (See that post HERE) At least, I knew I was going to get lost finding the place. The place was dead, and no soca music was playing. boooo….

Maryann and I walked over to some lounge a couple of blocks over by the name of Falucka. The music was a little better than the last place and was actually almost getting me pumped up a bit, that is until the bitchiest bartender I’ve ever encountered made an appearance. Her personality was horrible and made it seem like everyone else but us was important. At her last attempt to “slide us over”  i was fed up and wanted to get out of there

The 2 guys who kept insisting we dance with them didn’t help either. It was time to head back anyway, Nikki was probably already waiting, and to be honest, I was getting cranky. We walked in to the 2nd floor of Madame X, back at it again, since it was our original point of meeting up. The music was finally right, but I felt like I walked into everyone grinding dicks and asses. Hey, I can dance, but or some reason, tonight I just wasn’t feeling it. Let alone the guys that were next to us, kept trying to talk to me, and kept touch my afro..something I hate strangers doing. I think I must have pushed his hand away from my head like 4 times. His friend was a bigger perv who insisted on dancing with anyone who said yes. His main target seemed to be Maryann, who he tried to bribe with a drink and she repeatedly declined.

Nikki finally arrived, I know she wanted to stay longer and wanted to dance. I felt bad because our vibes weren’t in the right place tonight. We stayed for about an hour more, but knowing that I was out and waiting since 10pm, I was ready to call it a night by 2am.

Maybe I’m getting older, maybe it was just a one time thing, but after a night like this, all I wanted to do was cuddle up at home with someone special, and after a long train ride, that’s exactly what I did. ♥

A Little Bit of Sunshine

I haven’t seen Katt or my godson ZJ in a bit of some time, and knowing that I was getting out of work early was the perfect excuse to pay them a little visit. I can’t believe that Chris has never been to the point, something so close to home. I used to ride on my pink bike here whenever I just wanted to get away and escape reality. Alex’s Chris’s dog was loving the fresh air.

Days like this are simply sweet. I’m blessed.

Captured By Belle: Stroll Through the Americas

2minxinx2minxinx2minxinxAfter one of my interviews, I had some time to kill until I headed to another. I told you guys I was getting on my job hunting head set. The first interview was eh… Don’t get me wrong, The interview went great, I usually do pretty well on those things, but the actual job itself was pretty much a drag. You know that feeling you get when you just walk into a pyramid scheme. That’s what I got, even though it wasn’t. The company seemed legit, but something about it just gave me a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. And yes, I did get a call back.

I was strolling through the city, Avenue of the Americas to be exact. I had my camera in hand and a lens I never use. It was time to put this 75-300mm to good use. I noticed that with this lens, I have to have some decent space in between myself and the subject. So now that I had some open space, I was free to shoot as I pleased. When I was younger I used to take my dingy old cameras and take pictures of city life. I’m sure I can find some pictures somewhere. Yes, my editing skills were horrible, my equipment could have been better, but for what it was, it was pretty decent.  This time, I just w anted to get comfortable with the camera in public. Usually in the city, people just look at you as if you’re a tourist. I just kept clicking, tell me what you guys think.2minxinx2minxinx

Captured By Belle: Sylas’s Baptism

This must be baptizing season, not that I’m complaining. This is when I get some nice action, or should I say Belle, my canon gets some action. Long time friend, who I barely see, but should really make some more time for her, because she’s such a sweetheart Stephanie, hit me up because her adorable looking son was ready to rock all white for the big guy upstairs.

I have to admit, I took more than 500 pictures for this event. A bigger family usually means everyone wants a personalized touch. One thing I didn’t mind at all. Plus, since I have  met Steph’s family a long time ago (we met in 3rd grade and officially became friends in 7th grade) getting them to pose, was super easy. A task I usually have a hard time doing when it comes to large groups, since usually someone doesn’t tend to grasp the concept. Everyone was so great and attentive. The main big guy for the day Sylas, was a different story, since he was feeling a bit feverish (awwww) it was a little tough to get him smiling. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t look adorable as every with that little pout of his, I mean, look at those cheeks!

I sent Steph options in color as well as black and white, though the colored ones were super cute, I feel like black and white did just enough justice, for the day. I’ve include some of my favorites in this post, since I would never over load you guys with 500 pictures at once!

I hope you guys like!love, m
