I feel like I’ve been talking about my trip to Paris a little too much, maybe it’s because I’m so excited about it. I’ve never left the country before (I’m not counting Santo Domingo) and maybe it’s just more of a realization that my life long goals of traveling the world is coming true. Yes, this may just be step one, but it’s better than no steps at all.
There’s 5 weeks left and the countdown has started. First of all there’s a shit load of laundry that I need to get done, especially since my lazy ass rather go shopping than cleaning the perfectly good clothes I already have. That way, when I get to packing I can see what I want to over stuff my carrier with.
I know there’s no way in hell I’m going to be learning French in such a small amount of time. I think as long as I have the main phrases maybe I can just be polite the whole time there. So I have my merci, bonjour, enchanté and s’il vous plait, on rotation on the big old brain of mine. Just because I don’t understand, it doesn’t mean I have to be dick while I’m there. Plus, Google translate will be my best friend the whole time I’m there.
I’ve recently just started to do a little of historic homework as well. I know we all know The Eiffel Tower and The Arc de Triomphe, but do we really know the significance as to why they’re so important? I don’t want to get there and just be at awe of how pretty it is, I want to understand it’s influence.
Well, I’ll pause my rant for now… I haven’t even gotten started on my research for Madrid. I think the language being spanish makes me a little more comfortable, knowing that I’ll be able to read directions and such, but we’ll get in to that soon enough. Later guys!
